Open Question: ok how offensive is this?

September 2nd, 2009

My husband thinks that if you haven’t gone to college you are uneducated. My parents never went to college. My mother is manager of the women’s dept of a JCPenney (that’s juniors, accessories, fashion jewelry, misses, petites, maternity, lingerie, and plus size, the whole bottom floor!!!) She has been with JCPenney for 34 years and has worked her way up the ladder. My father is a construction worker. His parents waited until my husband was about 10 to go to school and now one is a school counselor and one is a librarian. He always makes it a point to say that my parents are uneducated and his are educated because they have been to college. He is on his last year in college and I am still starting out so I am uneducated and every once and a while he’ll drop it into conversation “oh you aren’t educated yet” or “that’s because your not educated” We have have many conversations over him not saying stuff like that anymore but it still comes out every once and a while. Do think he is right or wrong? I have been to school for 14 years technically compared to his 17 does that make me uneducated?

I was answering another question.. And a lot of people were commenting that 1.5 cts. is a very big ring…! I think it’s TINY!!! I dont consider myself to be rich or snooty.. But I would not want a ring that small! The other answers were saying it was too big to wear daily! …. Are these just people who dont wear ANY jewelry!? I am SO confused!

Open Question: How do I make my cat stop this?

September 2nd, 2009

For the past couple of months, my cat has been in this awful habit of waking up my entire household at about 4:30am. He bangs on my door (sitting on his back feet and repeatedly batting on my wooden door) until I open the door. He then runs away and hides behind the couch if I attempt to follow him. If I let him in, he just knocks all the bottles and jewelry off of my dresser/desk. He has food and water, access to his litter box, so there’s really nothing else he needs at that point in the morning. I’ve tried ignoring it (he’ll persist for upwards of an hour) throwing his toys over his head, chasing him around for a few minutes before attempting to get back to bed, but nothing will break this habit.

My sleep is suffering very badly because of this. Any suggestions to break him of this?

btw: He’s an 8-year-old cat, relatively small as he was the runt, and really not a cuddly creature to begin with. He does not like to be coddled or pet for more than 2 minutes or so, and rarely plays with anyone for more than 5 minutes.
He’s declawed and asthmatic, so he’s strictly an indoor cat, especially since we have major roads near our home.

He ignores scratching posts and really only pays attention to toys for maybe 5 minutes at a time. He has more toys than the 8-year-old in my house does. :P
This is a pretty new thing for him to do, maybe 2 or 3 months at this point. He was starting up at about 5:30-6:00 am previously so it wasn’t much of a problem as I get up then anyway, but he’s inching earlier and earlier and starting this 4:00-4:30am nonsense about a week ago.
